Leigh Wilson, B.S., R.D.H.
Faculty
Leigh Wilson is the Assistant Director of Dental Hygiene at State Fair Community College in Sedalia, Missouri. She completed her bachelor’s degree in biology at Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Missouri. Currently she teaches Oral Anatomy and Histology, Dental Biomaterials, Radiography, Medical Emergencies, Local Anesthesia, Dental Hygiene Theory I-IV, and first-year dental clinic. She is proud to teach at her alma mater and delights in making her students educational journey informative and fun.
She got her first job in the dental field while she was bartending during happy hour in Long Island and it, happily, changed the course of her life. Leigh has worked in private practice and corporate offices as a registered dental hygienist, and was a practice manager before transitioning to teaching. Her variety of experiences allows her to have a unique perspective on the dental field and she likes sharing that knowledge with her students. Leigh created an alumni group for dental hygiene graduates of SFCC and enjoys witnessing former students grow within their careers.
She is a member of ADHA and was the secretary in her local component. She serves as Member at Large for the Faculty Association, an advisor for Phi Theta Kappa, a student honor society, as well as an advisor for SADHA. Leigh‘s students frequently comment that her memes and sense of humor almost make her classes bearable. On weekends she likes to travel with her dogs, particularly to places with sand and water.
