Shelly Brown, MED, BSDH, RDH

Shelley Brown, MEd, BSDH, RDH has been working in the dental field since 2001; first as an assistant and then graduating in 2008 as a dental hygienist. She has always loved helping others learn, so in 2009 she began working as an adjunct faculty member at the Utah College of Dental Hygiene, her alma mater.

She teaches an NBDHE review class, practice management, embryology and histology, pediatrics, expanded functions and periodontics. She loves learning and in 2019 she completed her masters degree in instructional design with her capstone project being over the updated AAP classification system.

Shelley’s greatest joy is helping students. She found that many students liked to be able to review their skills with videos so she co-started Hygiene Edge to help students and practicing dental hygienists improve their clinical practice.

She also podcasts on HygieneEDGEucators to help dental hygiene instructors improve their teaching skills and enjoys, speaking and creating new continuing education courses for dental hygienists.

She currently lives in Utah where she serves as the Utah Dental Hygienist’s Association secretary and enjoys lots of adventures with her hubby and 4 little boys.
